Working on the RAT book I came across a picture of one of my heroes, Sharon Krebs. Sharon was active in the earliest women’s protests, had Yippie theatrical instincts, and was brave. Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger, the man who advised Nixon to bomb Vietnam back to the “Stone age”, was to receive a hotsy totsy award as a great American by the power brokers. I think at New York’s Waldorf Astoria hotel. Sharon, got a job as a server – security wasn’t ass tight in those days. Nude underneath her serving whites. She carried a silver platter to the dais, disrobed, lifted the ornate silver cover, and presented Kissinger with a bloody pigs head. The room stopped. Even the secret service was frozen. A naked woman clearly had no weapons. The power of Sharon’s action was solely in the idea, juxtaposition of images. Kissinger and the Pig. This photo was from another similar action. But the Kissinger moment became part of underground legend.
