I direct Acclaim Talent, one of the biggest talent agencies in the in the Louisiana/Texas region. We put over 200 actors in speaking parts in Hollywood films last year.
Was privileged to participate in the civil rights movement including such struggles as SNCC’s Mississippi Freedom Summer and the Selma march. Met Martin Luther King there but was personally more moved by Malcom X in Harlem. Was privileged to work in SDS … as an aside they were the the most heart felt and smartest group I ever had the pleasure of risking my life with.
Took Ayahuasca with a Shaman in the jungle in the upper Amazon and spent a night conversing with loved ones who have passed… it didn’t seem so far away.
In know-nothing, up-tight, conservative America, had a number of older gay mentors who offered a world of the creative arts and aesthetics and treated me well. I owe a debt to the Beats (many gay), with their Buddha dharma sensibilities. Men like poet Allen Ginsberg taught me more than the University of Texas.
Wasn’t afraid to stick my neck out and take chances.
